The Elements of a Mobile-Friendly Website and Why You Should Optimize

52% of global internet traffic comes from mobile devices.

Gone are the days when websites are built with only desktop users in mind. And this is precisely why your cleaning service needs to focus on providing a seamless mobile experience.

So, why does your site need to be mobile-friendly?

According to Think with Google, 79% of people say they’re more likely to revisit and/or share a mobile site if it is easy to use.

Below are more stats which prove why your site needs to be mobile-friendly:

  • 96% of Americans are cellphone owners and now have a growing dependency on smartphones

  • 75% say smartphones make them more productive

  • 60% say smartphones make them feel confident and prepared

  • 65% of clicks on paid Google search results come from mobile devices

More than 30% of consumers use Google on mobile to search for nearby solutions, therefore, mobile-friendly websites are crucial to businesses, especially those with physical stores.

Elements of a mobile-friendly website

Responsive design – A website with responsive design automatically adapts itself to different screen sizes. Instead of showing a miniature version of the desktop version, which is too large on a mobile device, the website shows an optimized version for mobile devices.

Optimized images – To provide a mobile-friendly experience, use images that are fast-loading, and consider users that will be opening your website using a data connection.

Text formatting – Use a concise copy that is easy to read with short sentences and paragraphs. You can also use bullets and numbered lists to make it easier to view.

Readable fonts – Serif types or fonts without tails are easier to read on smaller devices. Fonts that are easy on the eyes work better on mobile devices and keep users on your website.

Navigation – A mobile-friendly website is easy to navigate even without a mouse. Design your site for smaller screen firsts using large buttons and text, and make your service offerings easy to find.

The use of mobile devices is still steadily increasing as it becomes part of our everyday lives.

As a website owner, you must optimize your pages to keep users on the site while helping your website climb through the rankings. Remember that search engines consider mobile-friendliness as one of its biggest ranking factors.
